Senior Care | Getting Your Life Back
Senior Care is a program provided by Southwest Georgia Regional Medical Center to help seniors in our community deal with behavioral health issues. We focus on enhancing the patient’s skills and resources to foster independence, self-confidence and self-reliance.
The Senior Care treatment program is a medically supervised program tailored to meet the individual needs of older adult patients requiring behavioral health support (although adults over the age of 18 may be eligible).
Most therapy sessions are conducted three times a week in a group format, but individual and/or family therapy can be provided if clinically indicated.
These groups are facilitated by a trained and licensed therapist under the supervision of a board-certified psychiatrist. Additionally, the patient’s care is coordinated with their primary care physician.
The outpatient program assists seniors struggling with:
• Change transitions
• Grief and loss
• Medication education
• Anxiety, nervousness, worry
• Relationships
• Depressed mood, isolation, loneliness, hopelessness, helplessness
• Stress management
• Aging
• Anger management
• Relaxation skills
• Problem solving
• Pain management
• Diseases – difficulty coping with health and physical changes (i.e. diabetes, hypertension, vascular disease)
